AUSTIN CINEMAKER COOP 1996 - 2002

This is an archival site for Austin Cinemaker Coop and for the works it generated between 1996 and 2002. The purpose of the site is to create a shared platform to collect and preserve the visual history of the "Coop".

Cinemaker was a non-profit media organization with the mission to foster and promote pluralistic expressions of self-taught, bootstrapped, small-gauge film aesthetics. During the course of a five year run it created educational values and social concepts worthy of research. Between 1997 and 2001, Cinemaker produced quarterly film festivals, opened the annual Cinematexas International Film Festival, provided biweekly experimental programings, offered numerous courses and workshops, organized an International Super 8 film festival in 2001 and most importantly provided a community for media makers who invested an enormous amount of time and energy to learn from each other.
